Shoot for the Stars!

So I'm taking a little break from Christmas cards lately, but I'll go back to it later because that's my favourite kind of card to make.

This is my bling card for the challenge bellow.  Once I picked the stamp this card really came together fast, I might have taken me about 10 minutes or so to do.  I used black embossing powder for the sentiment and a white embossing powder for the stars.  And it was all applied with VersaMark ink, I'm really new to embossing so the card isn't perfect, but I love the look.  In fact it was last Christmas that I got my powders and heat gun.  The stamp is called "Shoot for the Stars" and it's from Simon Says Stamps.  And of course I had to bling it up for the challenge.  The card looked too plain so I added a strip of shimmery red ribbon for a splash of colour!

Tropical Paradise

I made this card to enter in the challenge below, the theme is "In the Tropics".  I thought this would be a good opportunity to use some of my distress inks!  I started off with white paper and I added the inks one at a time until they blended.  The colours I used were squeezed lemonade, ripe persimmon, and festive berries.  The water and paradise detail at the bottom is from Recollections Adhesive Borders, these came is a large package and they are borders for scrapbooking, I just cut it down to fit a card and I cut out around the waves to give it a neat look.  The tropical  and star details are from K&Company Adhesive Chipboard it came with a bunch of travel themed items.  And last but not least is the camera deail at the top, is called Escape by Little Yellow Bicycle.

Snowman Party!

This is a card I made that came together quickly, I wanted to make a card using this snowman stamp that I got from Stampin Up and I used my copic markers to colour the stamp.  I used my lightest blue and the blender pen to make that fade affect around all the snowmen.  Both the green papers are from a pad from Recollections called Sugar Plums, this pad had a lot of really fun and cute Christmas paper.  I've used almost all the pages in either my cards or my scrapbook.  I embossed the cream paper with my cuttlebug using a folder from Sizzix.  And the sentiment is a sticker pack I got from Zellers.

This card had a lot more layers then I'm use to creating because I'm trying to do more intricate cards, and the result is still the same, it really looks like a clean and simple card.  Oh well, I'll just keep trying.

Christmas Tree Card

Here's my first card I'm going to share with everyone!

The stamp is from Stampin' Up's Polar Party set, it's a very cute set with polar bears and penguins and this adorable Christmas tree design.  The snowflake embossing folder is from Darice, I really love the pattern and it was only $4.99 at Two Scrapbooking Friends!  And the super cute reindeer paper is called "Home for the Holidays" by doodlebug design inc.  And I inked the corners with Vintage Photo Distress Ink, this is my first attempted at using distress ink.  I love this look it adds so much more depth to this card.

This card was inspired by the below card sketch from Deconstructing Jen

Let's Get it Started...

OK, so here is my first post!  A friend of mine encouraged me to start a craft blog to post my work and to enter challenges.  I have been making cards and scrapbooking on and off since 2006.

I can see that my work has improved since I started but I'm still reaching for that style that I see posted by so many really talented crafters.  I'm still reaching for that complicated look but I am a clean and simple girl so I've have been really reaching out of my element these days and I would like to showcase some of my work here.

With that being said, I will try to post from time to time, mind you I have a five year old and a three month old so I can only be crafty whenever I can!
